The American Coup - One Year On

 “How could we possibly have known this was going to happen?” cry an outnumbered police force dealing with tens of thousands of armed rioters all wearing t-shirts saying “JAN 6 CIVIL WAR” that have been available for purchase from Amazon for a quarter of a year by this point. Many of the rioters had taken to social media over the Christmas fortnight to say that they were going to do something big on 6th January too. Alas, you simply cannot tell in advance when something like this is going to happen.

But for something that was planned in advance it really was a disaster for those who planned it.

I don’t think anyone needs reminding of what happened - people who appeared as though they should have been in a nursing home instead found themselves thrust into a Congress in session, and then the rioters turned up. In all seriousness, armed rioters stormed the Capitol building with a genuine aim to kill members of Congress and ultimately overthrow the government to install Trump as a dictator, and when the dust settled, there were 5 people dead - one of whom was killed deliberately. The rioters also took with them a gallows with which they wanted to hang Vice President Mike Pence, who at the time was performing the ceremonial duty of certifying the election results.

Naturally, when a mob turns up wanting to hang the Vice President, something has gone very wrong for democracy. Where did this all start?

It started with an anonymous political essayist, using a single letter as an alias. I wonder where he got that idea from? On 28th October 2017, Q, someone who is alleged to have very high security clearance in the US government, posted on the messageboard 4chan for the first time. Through several posts over the next three years, Q detailed a paedophile ring involving thousands of suspects, including many high-profile democrats. He also detailed an event called the Storm, in which Trump would use the police and the military to round up these thousands of paedophiles and have them arrested. One thing led to another and by 6th January 2021, tens of thousands of people who believe this nonsense were trying to hang Mike Pence.

And there really was a plan to overthrow the government and install Trump as a dictator. Not a grassroots plan made by Q supporters on the ground, but a plan by Trump’s inner circle. A PowerPoint emerged showing Trump’s intended next steps if the rioters had succeeded in stopping the certification of the election. By declaring a state of emergency, Trump would permanently delay the certification of the election, then use Presidential emergency powers to bring in laws to make him still legally President. Thankfully, none of this happened, because when the actual day came, the riot just fell apart after people entered the Capitol building because they were so unsure of what to do next that they spent 7 hours just wandering around.

Where next for Q, and his legion of believers? Well, the conspiracies have become more and more outlandish. The Storm is apparently still coming according to devotees, and thousands gathered in Dallas in November to welcome the return of the late JFK Jr, who many supporters believed had faked his deadly plane crash in 1999 and was actually Q, and was going to come back and take over the country with Trump and be Trump’s Vice President. Even if you believe that JFK Jr did fake his death, it seems unlikely that a prominent Democrat from a family of prominent Democrats would seek to be Vice President to Trump. Q has not posted since before the coup attempt, and it seems unlikely he ever will again. Whether Q was a troll, or someone who believed a lot of what he was saying, will likely forever be unknown, as will the real identity of Q (in before his identity is revealed next week now I have said that).

I think the best summary I have heard is that the 21st Century in the United States has seen a fake stolen election and a real stolen election, and a fake global elite paedophile ring and a real global elite paedophile ring, and in both cases more people believe the fake one than the real one.
